Holland Campaign Worker Speaks To College Dems

Press Release

Location: Unknown

Louis Schuh of Tupelo, a 2006 Ole Miss graduate majoring in political science, returned to the University Tuesday night to promote Rep. Steve Holland's campaign for the U.S. Congress in a speech to the College Young Democrats.

"When Steve Holland was sent by voters in Lee County to the Mississippi House of Representatives 25 years ago, he didn't go to advocate for a handful of 'fat cats.', He went to represent the people who work and support families, college students, the aged, the needy and those who don't have 'hired guns' called lobbyists," Schuh said.

He pointed out that his father, a member of the Mississippi National Guard, is serving a tour in Kosovo. "Why is he there when the role of Guard is for state emergencies and under the control of the Governor?" Schuh asked.

As chairman of the Public Health Committee in the House, Schuh explained that Rep. Holland has fought for accessible, affordable health care, education, student incentives and the restoration of needy Mississippians who got cut off of Medicaid rolls.

"Steve was co-author of the popular IMPACT legislation that enabled parents and grandparents to provide money guaranteeing tuition stability for college students," he said.
