Dear Lt. Gen. West,
I write today regarding the future of the Keller Army Community Hospital (KACH), a medical center in my district which currently provides high-quality medical care to thousands of Cadets, faculty, staff, and families at the United States Military Academy at West Point, as well as members of the military community in the Hudson Valley. As you know, recent policy changes have left the future of a number of medical treatment facilities, including KACH, in jeopardy. This has caused great concern at West Point, which I have the pleasure of serving in Congress.
I believe that the proposed agreement allowing beneficiaries of The Hudson Valley Health Care System of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to access services at KACH would benefit local veterans while also increasing the volume of services provided at KACH. As you know, the two organizations have established a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to authorize this potential agreement.
It is my understanding that past attempts to reach an MOU between KACH and the Hudson Valley Health Care System have experienced delays in its authorization. In an effort to mitigate those concerns, I request that you authorize the MOU, as it would have great impact on West Point as well as local veterans who currently receive services through the VA.
Thank you in advance for your time and attention in this matter as both are greatly appreciated.
