America should be the healthiest country with the best healthcare outcomes, and that's simply not the case today. We spend too much and we get too little for it. In my view, access to affordable, quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, not a privilege.
Too many of us don't have insurance or simply cannot afford it. The costs of prescription medication, basic tests, and visiting a doctor are simply too high for way too many American families. We can do better.
My five-point healthcare plan includes working towards true universal coverage such as Medicare For All, protecting reproductive healthcare, improving preventative care, investing in healthcare infrastructure, and strengthening earned benefit programs like Social Security and Medicare.
It's time for universal coverage and a deep commitment to a smarter healthcare coverage system.
