In his day-to-day interactions with people from all walks of life, Rob strongly believes that we must do more to reduce income inequality, and close the gap between the rich and the rest of America. Income inequality and the opportunity gap, where the rich get richer while middle-class families get left further behind and wealth gets concentrated in the hands of only a few families, are the single most significant threat to our democracy and the American way of life.
Raise the minimum wage so Michiganders doing some of our most difficult jobs in the fastest growing sector of our economy, the service sector, can support their families in dignity.
Reform the nation's tax structure so it is more fair, rewarding work and helping middle-class families, while simplifying it for small businesses.
Strengthen public schools so a quality education is available to all children, regardless of their income or where they live, and support efforts to prepare children for jobs, from technical and vocational courses to apprenticeships in skilled trades.
Reward workers in critical public safety or national security roles, including police, firefighters, EMS and military personnel.
