Dr. Gill believes in a living wage. Currently, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour, which is not enough to keep a single parent above the poverty line. The federal government must pass legislation which raises the minimum wage. Had minimum wage kept up with inflation, it would be much higher than $15 per hour today. However, due to corporate greed (and corporate influence in our politics) this has not been the case. Raising minimum wage would increase the quality of life for millions of Americans and create a larger consumer class, benefiting the overall economy.
